How can I adjust the sorting of variants in the variant filter?

The sorting of the provided variant filters, displayed using the Generic or GenericMatrix ViewHelper, can be flexibly adjusted via the extension settings.

Adjustment via Extension Configuration

To adjust the sorting, navigate in the TYPO3 backend to the Settings -> Extension Configuration -> shop module. There you will find options to switch between sorting by title (title) and individual sorting (sorting).

Sorting by Title (title)

With this setting, the variants are sorted alphabetically according to the title of the color or size. This is particularly useful if a simple alphabetical order is most intuitive for your customers.

Individual Sorting (sorting)

If you choose the sorting option, the individual sorting that you have stored in the backend for the records will be applied. This gives you full control over the order in which the filter options (e.g., XS, S, M, L, XL) appear, regardless of the alphabet.

Benefits of Optimal Sorting

Well-thought-out sorting of your variant filters significantly improves the User Experience (UX). Customers find the desired variant faster, which can positively influence the conversion rate. Especially for clothing or products with many attributes, a logical sequence (such as clothing sizes) is essential for a professional shop appearance.

Conclusion

With the flexible settings of the Shop extension, you can optimally adapt the filter display to the needs of your customers and thus ensure better clarity in your online shop.
